Setbacks and Failures

Hello Champion:

Let’s discuss two of the most difficult components to a high-performing lifestyle.

Setbacks and failure.

As troublesome as these are, they are the building blocks to who we are striving to one day become. Once we shift the narrative that setbacks halt any and all progression, we find power in the positive mindset, and can use it to our advantage.

First, let’s talk about what you are ALLOWED to feel.

Frustration.

Helplessness.

Fear.

Sadness.

Worry.

Each of these emotions and the thoughts that provoke them are valid. But they cannot define your next steps.

How do we progress? Here are five simple steps:

  • Be Grateful for Yourself: When you feel as if you have nothing left, remind yourself these feelings are running their course, and in order to gain back what you think may be lost, you need to give credit to the powerful and constructive mentality that built you.

  • Recognize Pain is Temporary: Once you acknowledge your ability to persevere, you can find promise in the idea that nothing is permanent.

  • Stop Complaining: We are all guilty of this. There is a time and place to feel, but consistent negativity only drags us deeper into the hole.

  • Find the Silver Lining: Everything happens for a reason. Maybe you needed a break. Maybe some areas of your life needed more attention. Maybe you were meant to LEARN something. Do not let the dark cloud above keep you from seeing the rainbow.

  • Focus on the Future: What are you going to do to help YOU tomorrow?

Again, a simple mental shift can make all the difference in a situation.
